Frequently Asked Questions
Clear, actionable answers for complete beginners. If you can’t find what you need, contact us.
What equipment do I need to start?
A properly sized violin with case, bow, rosin, shoulder rest, and a tuner. You do not need an expensive instrument to begin—setup matters more than price.
How much should I practice?
Start with 15–20 minutes a day, 5 days a week. Short and consistent beats long and irregular. Use our Practice Planner on the home page to track progress.
Do I need music theory first?
No. We teach notation and rhythm in context with your first pieces, which is more effective for beginners.
Are live sessions required?
Not required. Video courses stand alone, and live sessions provide optional feedback and motivation if you want extra guidance.
Will I develop bad habits without a teacher?
We emphasize posture, bow path, and left-hand shape from the start, with self-checks and video angles to reduce errors. Live feedback is available to catch issues early.
How long until I can play a simple piece?
Most beginners can play a simple melody within 4–8 weeks with consistent practice. Results vary by time invested and prior musical experience.
Can children use these courses?
Yes, with supervision. Our courses are designed for adult beginners, but the pacing and drills also help motivated younger learners.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 14-day refund on self-paced courses if you have not completed more than 20% of the content. Live session fees are refundable up to 24 hours before the event.
